Concussion
The Center for Disease Control (CDC), estimates that each year over 20 million children and adults will suffer from concussions, mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI), or head trauma as a result of sports injury, falls, motor vehicle accidents and blunt force trauma. Head injuries lead to a disruption of normal life activities affecting people in many different ways. Symptoms may include: dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, imbalance, forgetfulness or sensitivity to light.
Physical Therapy in conjunction with primary physicians, specialists, and athletic trainers, serve an important role in recovery following head injury. A physical therapy evaluation will include: cognitive, vestibular and orthopedic assessment. A personalized treatment plan will be established and discussed with the patient.
